I travelled to Paris as a member of the committee for Myrann Baker-Rasooli’s PhD thesis defence on ground breaking experiments in quantum fluids of light. Myrann gave a superb talk explaining four experiments and some of the unique and fascinating physics of the QFL system, including the first observations of Jones-Roberts solitons!

Then came the celebration of Myrann’s time in the group of Quentin Glorieux at Ecole Normale Supérieure - Sorbonne Université.

Congratulations Dr Baker-Rasooli!

This was also an opportunity to attend the conference

Soliton - Maths-physics meeting on solitons in condensates and polaritons

at Institut Henri Poincaré. The meeting involved an equal mixture of quantum physicists and mathematicians, a full day of talks, and a lot of coffee. Thanks to Amandine Aftalion and Frédéric Chevy for organising a very stimulating meeting!
